48 hours

It has been a long 48 hours. It started Sunday night. Clay went to bed with a cough and didn't fall asleep until 1am coughing. Then he woke up at 5:30 am and I gave him more cough and cold medicine. When it was time for school he was sounding worse so I let him stay home. At 12:30 pm Randy woke up for the day and I was on my way out to take Tyler to school and then go to work. I told Randy that Clay was worse, and that he now was weasing and if he wanted he could call and make an appointment with the pediatrician.(when were I think they need to go Randy doesn't so I left it up to him). He called me right before I got off work and had made an appointment for 3:45. So I came home Had lunch and then took him in. When we got there they noticed how much work it was taking him to breath. They hooked him up to a monitor that find out how much oxygen was in his system. He was at 83% which is very low. They said that he was having an asthma attack and need to have a steroid shot and a breathing treatment. So they got him started on that.

Then Dr. Knochel said he need to go to the hospital right away. So I was like I can leave now and be there in 20-30 minutes. He was no he needs to transported by ambulance. Clay need to be on oxygen and that he couldn't be on oxygen if I took him. When I called Randy this he wasn't to happy that he needed to go by ambulance, because it was going to be expensive. I agreed but said in Clays best interest it would be to go in the ambulance. So the EM T's pick us up and took us to Utah Valley Hospital.

The nice thing about going to the doctor first we were able to by pass the ER. They took Clay straight up to the pediatrician unit. We were there for about 2 hours before I found out that he was going to have to stay over night. They like one parent to stay over night too. Since Randy had to work it was I who got to stay. Randy had drooped Tyler off at his Mom and Dad's before he went to work and made Tyler king for the night. Bought him his own cheese pizza and made his fell special. Later my Mom and Dad and Randy's Mom and Dad came, because I wanted Clay to have a blessing. While waiting for them to show up a volunteer came to the room and asked clay if he wanted to play a game. She brought in a Nintendo 64 and played baseball with him for a while, then grandpa Archuleta took over.

When Tyler showed up then he took over. Its nice that they have different things to help children fell more comfortable durning there stay. Clay loved his dinner, he had chicken breast with Alfredo noddles zucchini fruit roll and 2 cookies. It was funny because before he got dinner he was asking the nurse he they had grapes and they didn't have any he was really bummed. But when his dinner came it had one grape with it, he thought that was funny. When everyone left they took him down for a chest x-ray it was clear. (when we first took him to the doctor I thought he might be getting a nasty cold or bronchitis). The breathing treatments they had his on made him a little hipper so he didn't go to sleep until after 2:30 am. And because I didn't have the things I need and between the alarms going off about every hour I only got about two hours of sleep. This morning with Dr. Paxton came in Clay was doing so much better that they released him. I hope that we never have to go through this again for his sake and for mine. It has been along couple of days. I will be glad when this one is over and I can sleep.
