Enrichment

Tonight was our wards enrichment night. I had been debating about going since tonight was also Clay's first flag football game. But I decide that enrichment only happens a few times a year and clay has football all month long and missing one game wasn't going to hurt. Boy am I am glad that I went.

Jared Osmond Spoke and sang about Forgiveness, Self-Esteem Through the Gospel. He also talked about Child Abuse and depression.

I don't know if you know the statics on child abuse about 1 out of every 2 kids have some sort of child abuse in their lives.

Things we can do to prevent it from happening.

1. Talking to your children. Letting them know that you are there for them.

2. Did you know that alot af sexual abuse happens at sleepovers. He suggested that you eliminate any type of sleepovers, with friends and cousins.

He talked a lot on depression. He said like the commandment love thy neighbor as thy self. The thing we forget is that we have to love ourselves first. That we are our worst enemy, and we remember ourselves at our worst. We need to be careful on how we judge ourselves and others. We are children of God and we need to love ourselves. And to find out who we are? He said a couple of things that can help you when you are depressed is to. Know who you are. Not to judge or belittle us our anyone around us.

He had a acronym of "SPF" which is Speak well & spirit, Be Physicical and family and focus.

S: Speak well of your self and to take care of your spirit. Instead of when you look in the mirror and you think your ugly or your to fat, think I'm beautiful and other positive thoughts. We need to be our own bestfriend. For taking care of your spirit go to the temple read your scriptures anything that will help to strengthen out spirit.

P: Be Physical. When your sitting and not doing anything, it keeps you in the same mind frame. But if you get up and do something physical it well help take it off your mind.

F: Family and Focus. Your family can remind you that you are loved. I can't remember what the focus was. Sorry..

The reason we fear is because we are afraid to lose something. But because we have the gospel we should have nothing to fear. Pres. Hinkley said something to that affect.

I think I really need this tonight. Being one of those 1 out of 2 kids who have some sort of abuse, having low self-esteem and having depression on occasion helped me to know that I'm now alone, and that my heavenly father loves me. That there are other things I haven't thought of or done. I hope that someday I will not have to struggle as much with these. That I can remember that I'm a beautiful, smart, loving, kind, wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. I thank my heavenly father for putting someone in my life to help me with the things I struggle with. I'm so thankful.
