Utah County Fair

A day at the County Fair. It was so fun to go to the fair withe family. My favorite part was the horse roping. Clay and Tyler the the carnival rides. Clay rode his very first adult carnival ride. I hope we do it again next year.

Summertime part 2

So the next big thing to happen this summer is our mountain is on fire.

I was coming home from a shopping trip at walmart it was about 3:30 pm on August 1st, and I notice smoke somewhere between Payson and Santaquin. I get to the top of the hill and a Salem fire truck races by. The reason is because Its the salmon supper and the Payson firefighters put it on, or that the fire is really big. So I keep driving home and notice that the fire is closer than I thought, it is in Springlake. I go inside and yell at Randy, have you seen the fire on the mountain, he was like what theirs a fire on the mountain. So he went out back to check it out. Well a few minutes later we left to go to the Salmon supper, and drive round towards are Church to see if we could get a better look. we watched it for a while wondering if any of the homes in Springlake were on fire. So we went down to the Salmon supper and ate, when we where done I grabbed the camera from home and this is what the fire looked like an hour and half later.

We wanted to watch the helicopter fell the baskets up so we went to the Springlake to watch them. They flew two or three more times until the planes came. We watched it for about an hour and by the time we left it looked like the fire was almost out.So we come home and start to watch t.v and about 8:30 we look out the window and the fire is moving across the mountains northward. Its getting a lot closer. This picture is or the neighbors house behind us. We see the neighbors all out watching it and notice at main street their is a cop blocking the road. So everyone heads up to see what is going on. Nobody told us anything, so we all just stood around there watching it.

We are wandering if we are going to be evacuated and found out that the house above main street are being evacuated. So all we can do is just sit and watch some more. I ask some one if the will evacuated us below main and they said only if the fire jumps the canal. So I go home and back all my scrapbook albums and photos on the wall and all important papers. Deiced to wait on packing clothes that last minute if I need to. If the fire does jump the canal all there is between us and the canal is 2 very dry weed fields and a couple of houses. We are all hoping and praying that it won't jump the canal.

We sit out till 1:30 watching. I talked to some friends whose hose was evacuated they told me that they had turned the sprinkler's on and was spraying their house with the garden hose, But that night it was so hot and the heat form the fire it just dried the water as soon as it hit the house. We were so afraid that Rileys orchard would be gone in the morning. you couldn't see it in the dark. finally around two it started to die down so we all went to bed hoping we wouldn't wake with a knock on the door telling us to get out. the next morning we got up and the road was still blocked off and they had put a water tub in the middle of the road for the helicopters to fell their buckets. It was fun to watch them from the window. But they were very load in the mornings. Later we find out that the fire came withing 10 feet of some homes, but none were lost and the orchards were all there. Later that week I find out that the Rileys had their whole family over and they filled the reservoir and turned the sprinklers on and it saved the orchard. Around 200 homes in Springlake and Payson were evacuated that night and three days later the fire was contained. I hope this is the last fire this year we have to deal with. Two within a couple of months of each other is a lot to deal with. Thankfully we have been safe with both fires this year.

The morning August 2nd was Clays birthday Party. He had 12 friends out of 20 show up they played football had pizza and root beer floats for his birthday. The next day August 3rd Clays 9th Birthday the family came over and we had FHE and Uncle Kevin made him a FOOTBALL cake.
