Nestle 5k

It has become a tradition in our family to go to the Nestle 5k fun run in Springville for the start of Art City Days.

The group of runners (minus Steve who forgot his running shoes and drove all the way home to get them).

It is too hard for the picture taker to take pictures of everyone out on the road, so I can only get pictures as we come near the finish line, and this race ended on the Springville High School track.

Clay pushing it to the very end

I didn't see Randy Tyler cross the finish line, so here they are posing nicely for me.

Mom pushing the 3 man jogging stroller!

Teto rode all the way in the jogging stroller, but he wanted to run across the finish line, and he could do so since he had a race number.

Camping at Burrston Ponds

We went camping at Burrston Ponds in Mona. Mom and Dad Archuleta came in the afternoon and we sat around the fire and visited for awhile, then did a few hours of fishing. This is the first year I have gotten me a fishing license since We go often and I'm the only one not fishing so I got one so I could fish too. No one around the ponds were catching fish, so we didn't really expect to catch any either, but it is just fun to try. My mom was the only one who caught one, and a good 12" one at that, it was pretty exciting. Dad and our Clay each caught fingerlings, but let them go as they were too small to eat. Randy's parents came and joined us for hotdogs and roasted marshmallows. After everyone had left we sat a around the fire a little longer and notice rain was coming so we packed everything up for the night and put what we could in the truck in case we got to wet at night and we could just grab out pillows and go home. Luckily it only rained for a few minutes and we just went right to bed since we were already in the tent. We had a fun time just relaxing.

Clay & Tyler looking bored. They really wanted to go fishing and us adults just weren't moving fast enough.

Clay watching me take care of my fish - kind of hard to see it in moms hands

Isn't that such a sweet face. Tyler was bored with fishing because there was no action, so while he was playing around, Dad caught this cute photo.

Hersey Track meet

CLat was excited for his first track meet. He had could choose 3 events out of 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, long jump, and baseball throw. He chose 100m, in which he took 2nd place in the trials and 4th place in the semi finals, and 2nd place in the 400m. He started out strong and in first place, but 1/2 way through he got caught and passed. He signed up for the baseball throw, but I think he missed it, or if he threw, we weren't aware of it.

Sorry

I know that the next several post are at least a month behind. But better late then never. I promise to do better in the future.

Fried Worms

Tonight Randy and I went out on a date, so we left the boys with his mom and dad. When we picked them up they had a story to tell us. So they driving home from having dinner and Clay starts telling Grandma that Tyler had eaten a worm early at their house. So the store goes like this.

They were outside in the back yard and in the neighbors backyard is new friends to play with. So they hop the fence and go over and play. The boy a few years older then Clay was dig dirt up in the garden and had found worms so Tyler was looking at them and with a little prodding from his brother looked at the worms and said I'm going to eat a worm, he looked at all the worms and said not that one, not that one, not that one and then went back to the second worm and said this one.

So he puts it is his mouth and swallowed it whole. He said he didn't want to chew it so he just swallowed it whole. He said it tasted like fish. They little girl in the yard started running around the yard screaming. I think Tyler thought that it was funny so with a little more prodding from clay he eat another worm sending the girl screaming more. While they were telling Grandma and Grandpa this story, Grandma was kind of freaking out that Tyler had eaten two worms.

She was asking him why and Clay said it just "protein" Grandma, Clay just kept reminding Grandma threw this story that it was "just protein", and Grandpa just kept laughing because Grandma was just eating this out of their hands. People all over the world eat bugs like Bear Grylls in Man vs Wild, and there's a book called how to eat Fried Worms. They go on by saying that they are going to tell all of their friends hoping it would freak them all out. Tyler also wants to show is class next Friday on the Show and teach Day how to eat worms. I don't know if I will let him put we at least he has a really good story to tell everyone for the rest of his life, and we all had a really good laugh.

I think the funniest thing about this whole story is that he is a really picky eater and he said he would eat a worm again and that Grandma was still freaking out a little while they all are telling us what happened. That is just Gross. At least if he ever got lost in the woods he wouldn't hesitate eating bugs, because now he wants to try other bugs to see what they taste like, he just won't eat potato bugs and ants he said. I hope he doesn't because it is just to GROSS!

Can you believe this cute little boy with that sweet innocent face would eat worms? I can't!

Surprise

Last Sunday I sang a duet with my Dad in his ward. We have sang this song a few times. I got up there not feeling nervous because we have sang it before. She started playing the piano and I come in, I look out in the audience and looked at my mom and my boys and then at everyone else.
A few rows behind my mom I see my sister Amanda and someone who looks like my sister Malinda. I thought that can't be her she is Texas, looked at her again and it is her. I couldn't believe it she was her and she didn't even tell me. After I saw her I started crying. At this point in the song I'm only on the 2 line of the song, and I bawling. I finish with my part and it is my dads turn to sing. So I pulled my self together and was able to finish the song strong.
After we were done I gave my Dad a hug and said Malinda's here, he said" I know I saw her". So I go sit back down and she comes and sit next to us. My mom didn't even know she was coming. All three of us were crying. We were so excited to see her. It has been 9 months since we last saw her and K and I hadn't even had the chance to see baby A yet. After Sacrament was over we went out and talked.
My mom said to me she couldn't figure out why I was crying, she has seen us perform this song many times, without my every getting emotional. She had thought that the spirit must have been really strong and had touched me, but that wasn't it. I was just so happy to see my little sister and her babies.
We had such a good visit. She came and spent Monday night with us and it was so nice to catch up. I just wish she didn't have to leave in 2 weeks.

Grandam's Sleepover

My Mom invited the boys and Teto for a sleep over at her house last weekend. Clay and Tyler love spending the night at Grandmas and this is the first time Teto got to stay to. They had so much fun. Amanda had made cupcakes and took them over for them to decorate. They tried having a fire with the rain. They were able to have a fire the next night and roast marshmallows and make smores. They also love to climb grandmas tree. This is the first time Tyler has been able to do it him self. Grandma always has fun things for them to do. The built a hide out, out of and old box. They loved playing in it. Thanks Mom for having them they loved it.
